David Edgar
David's father, Eddie, is a former goalkeeper for Newcastle United having made one appearance for the club during a 1976 FA Cup game.
When David was 9 his father brought him to England to play in a football tournament where he would be spotted by scouts at Manchester United and was offered a scholarship deal. However, he decided to stay in Canada.
At 14 he accepted a scholarship from Newcastle United and moved into a grandmothers home in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear.
Edgar began playing for the academy and soon found himself involved in first team action during Newcastle's injury nightmare in 2006/2007. Edgar was given a debut in an unfamiliar right back position against Bolton Wanderers but Newcastle were defeated 2-1.
A week later he made his home debut, watched by his father Eddie, this time at left back. Newcastle were trailing 2-1 to Manchester United when David scored from a long range shot to equalise and earn a point for Newcastle.
