Steven Taylor
Steven started playing football as a centre forward but in 1998 following injuries to defenders he was forced to play at centre back and afterwards was told he would not be restored up front. He moved to Wycombe Wanderers on a months loan in 2003 and became a very popular player amongst the Wycombe supporters, despite his young age and limited appearances.
In MArch 2004 he finally was handed a Newcastle debut when he appeared during the clubs 3-0 win over Real Mallorca in the UEFA Cup and his full debut came away at Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle lost 1-0 and Taylor was at fault for the goal, despite this he gave a good performance.
The following season, Steven got injured and could not play but did come back to play 22 games. His first goal came against Celta Vigo on November 23rd 2006 and it turned out to be the match winner, he then scored in the Premiership against Blackburn on December 9th.
Taylor's second Newcastle goal came against Sheffield United, another match winner that helped relegate Sheffield. he also scored against Arsenal in December 2007 to salavage a point for Newcastle.
Despite his still young age, Steven Taylor is recognised as one of the best defenders at Newcastle United.
